The key to a successful Valentine's Day

An interesting Valentine's fact

Did you know that one in five people will buy gifts for their furry four-legged friends for Valentine's Day?

So apart from making your pets happy, what is the key to a successful Valentine's Day?

Do you shower your beloved with lots of gifts, such as teddy bears, expensive aftershave, red roses, and boxes of chocolate? Or what about splashing out on a weekend away, or a luxurious pamper break?

Create a date night

For a less expensive and option, why not create a special Valentine's date night? And if you have got kids then this is where I find bribery can come in very handy. Start by planning a simple menu. One that includes as many of your favourite dishes as possible - and dishes that you both like. When I say 'simple' I mean not too many ingredients, doesn't take hours to prep and is unlikely to go wrong!

Dinner ideas for a romantic night in

When I started doing some research for this blog I typed in key words that trillions of people will have used over the last days. The article that stood out from a very long list was 75 Best Valentine's Day Dinner Ideas. Wow, 75 dishes! However, I stopped at number 25 - bacon wrapped fillet steaks. Not because I'm going to make it, but because I hadn't seen anything up to that point which we would both like. So, it's back to the drawing board.

We'll probably end up having pâté on toast, steak and chips, and maybe a cheesecake. The only thing I can tell you for certain about our Valentine's Day celebration is that we will be in the hot tub. Come rain or shine, we'll open a bottle of fizz for me, and a can or two of Guinness for Tim.

Sanctuary

Apart from the heath benefits, eco-friendliness, and year round use, a wood-fired hot tub can be incredibly romantic. Just imagine it... soft music playing in the background, a chilled glass of fizz, and the warm bubbles of the hot tub gently massaging your skin. It's your very own hot tub heaven. And especially lovely when there are no clouds, because you can just lie back and look at the stars together.

A hot tub also makes the perfect sanctuary, when you and your family need a place to de-stress, relax and unwind. So whoever you are spending Valentine's Day with, and whatever you are doing, we hope you make some special memories.
